General Hospital

General Hospital is all in your head. General Hospital
is the world we live in.
It is the place where pictures drift up from your memory
and stories rattle around
in your head. It is where you go when you are sick and the
location of where things
get fixed. Sometimes it is an emergency. Sometimes you
just want to talk to someone.
Pictures spark associations. Words remind you of what you have
to do. Associations are
made in the brain. They link a bunch of random details into
something that makes sense.
Your words float out into the ether of electronic space. It's
kind of like science fiction
or something.

The expanded January 1996 version of General Hospital is presented
in conjunction with "Of Sound Mind," an exhibition at
New Langton Arts in San Francisco. Both the exhibition installation
and website will evolve over the next six weeks.
